Just spent an hour viewing Comet McNaught off the Western Australian Coast at Dawsville in Mandurah. The comet became very clear about 9pm and the tail was great, and got longer and better the closer it travelled to the horizon in the sunset. Not much cloud around and it was very easy to see. (No it wasn't the star, that was off to the right.) We were joined at the beach by a continuing stream of people up to 9:30 PM (Western Australian Summer time), when it disappeared into cloud at the horizon.
Cup of tea to warm up and a slice of Honey Roll...then bed. FeralTB-)
