This is a tale about a man named......

... and I swear this is true (I have a witness FeralMB..) A student came into the library last night and FeralMB was at the desk, he opened up a unit outline and asked her if she had a particular title, like! Because he had an assignment due 'today' like. FeralMB checked the title and told him that we didn't have it but it was available from the 'Big City Branch' and he could order it (not good enough, his assignment is due today!).

Up to now, a pretty typical exchange, like! He then asked if he could hand up his assignment at the library, when told no, but he could use the computers to lodge it electronically, he said did we have...the business schools web site, like?...Then the situation rapidy went in another direction, when told he could use the computers with his usual login to see what else was at the business area shelf number, he said he was in his third year (business degree, I think) and hadn't used the library at all, like, what was a shelf number? like. He was studying at the business school in North of the big city..(never heard of this one, when asked if it was our University he said yes???) When FeralMB explained a shelf number was the address that the items sat on the shelf and helped to find them after a search on the catalogue, he said "What's a catalogue?", like..

It went on in this vein for a while, we (the both of us) really thought he was taking the p#@$, until a certain point when we realised he was dinkum...with everything he said. Really tried to help, showed him the location of the business items and as we were closing told him our hours for today so he could come back...and then he left.
We both went home a little dazed, but determined if he came back today FeralAW had to help him as we were hiding out the back...like..
